Effect of the radial boundary condition on Alfvén wave dynamics in reduced magnetohydrodynamics

چکیده
The effects of different boundary conditions on Alfvén wave dynamics in reduced magnetohydrodynamics are described. If one assumes that the derivative or the second derivative of the electrostatic potential is zero at one of the radial across the magnetic field boundaries, radially localized guided Alfvén wave solutions are possible, but if is set to zero grounded at both boundaries, the solutions consistent with the boundary condition exhibit radial propagation of energy. To confirm the ideas discussed, numerical tests were done in slab geometry with a density gradient across the magnetic field. © 2008 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.2898409

Exact analytical approach for free longitudinal vibration of nanorods based on nonlocal elasticity theory from wave standpoint
In this paper, free longitudinal vibration of nanorods is investigated from the wave viewpoint. The Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory is used for nanorods modelling. Wave propagation in a medium has a similar formulation as vibrations and thus, it can be used to describe the vibration behavior. Boundaries reflect the propagating waves after incident. Firstly, the governing quation of nanoro...
متن کاملMagnetohydrodynamics Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer over a Permeable Shrinking Sheet with Joule dissipation: Analytical Approach
A laminar, two dimensional, steady boundary layer Newtonian conducting fluid flow passes over a permeable shrinking sheet in the presence of a uniform magnetic field is investigated. The governing equations have converted to ordinary nonlinear differential equations (ODE) by using appropriate similarity transformations. The main idea is to transform ODE with infinite boundary condition into oth...
متن کاملTorsional wave propagation in 1D and two dimensional functionally graded rod
In this study, torsional wave propagation is investigated in a rod that are made of one and two dimensional functionally graded material. Firstly, the governing equations of the wave propagation in the functionally graded cylinder derived in polar coordinate. Secondly, finite difference method is used to discretize the equations. The Von Neumann stability approach is used to obtain the time ste...
متن کاملAnalytical and Numerical Investigation of Second Grade Magnetohydrodynamics Flow over a Permeable Stretching Sheet
In this paper, the steady laminar boundary layer flow of non-Newtonian second grade conducting fluid past a permeable stretching sheet, under the influence of a uniform magnetic field is studied. Three different methods are applied for solving the problem; numerical Finite Element Method (FEM), analytical Collocation Method (CM) and 4th order Runge-Kutta numerical method. The FlexPDE software p...
متن کاملEvaluation of Turbulence on the Dynamics of Monopile Offshore Wind Turbine under the Wave and Wind Excitations
In recent years, the use of offshore wind turbines has been considered on the agenda of the countries which have a significant maritime boundary due to more speed and stability of wind at sea. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of wind turbulence on the aero-hydrodynamic behavior of offshore wind turbines with a monopile platform. Since in the sea, the wind turbine structures ar...
